Terms & Guidelines

  1. Scope of Work and Limitations

The services provided by The Foodscape Coach prioritize functionality and productivity in the garden rather than aesthetics. While aesthetics are considered to ensure the garden complements the Client’s growing space, the main priority is to help the Client establish a practical, productive food-growing system. Additionally, this agreement does not include orchard work or decorative landscaping as the primary goal.

Any additional services or significant changes to the project scope may require additional fees and scheduling adjustments.

  2. Payment Schedule

Foodscape Facelift, Foodscape Foundations, and Pocket Produce

    • Deposit (non-refundable): 20% of the total service cost is due at the time of booking.

    • First Installment: 50% of the remaining balance will be due 48 hours before the initial consult.

    • Final Payment: The remaining balance will be due upon completion of final service. Additional materials will be sent to the Client upon the receipt of the final payment.

    Budget Bounty

    • Payment is due at time of booking.

  3. Additional Costs

Any costs associated with materials for the service package requested (such as seeds, seedlings, soil amendments, support structures, containers, garden tools, etc.) are the responsibility of the Client. I can provide recommendations (“need to have” vs. “nice to have”) and sourcing options.

  4. Client Participation

The Client agrees to participate actively in maintaining their garden/foodscape by following The Foodscape Coach’s recommendations and attending scheduled sessions. The goal is for us to work together and so participation and engagement with the process is essential.

  5. Cancellations and Rescheduling

Cancellations: If the Client chooses to cancel the service after the initial deposit, any additional payments made beyond the deposit will be refunded on a prorated basis for any services not yet rendered.

Rescheduling: The Client may reschedule sessions with at least 48 hours’ notice. In the event of an emergency, please communicate with The Foodscape Coach as soon as possible so accommodations can be made. I understand that unexpected events occur and I aim to provide flexibility wherever possible. However, failure to provide adequate notice without communication will result in a $15 fee for each occurrence.

  6. Liability

The Foodscape Coach will not be held liable for any damages, losses, or injuries incurred as part of the natural risks of working outdoors, including but not limited to weather-related damage, natural hazards, or risks associated with gardening and outdoor labor. However, in the event of damages, losses, or injuries that are a direct result of The Foodscape Coach’s actions or negligence, The Foodscape Coach assumes full responsibility.

  7. Confidentiality

The Foodscape Coach respects the privacy of each client and will handle any personal or sensitive information with care. While project photos and updates may be shared on social media and the business website for promotional purposes, identifiable details (such as addresses or specific client information) will not be disclosed.

The Client consents to The Foodscape Coach taking photographs of the project at all stages and posting them on social media and the business website for marketing and promotional purposes. If the Client would like to opt out of this consent, they must inform The Foodscape Coach.

  8. Understanding Growing Conditions and Managing Expectations

Growing your own food is a dynamic process that combines both art and science. Even the most experienced growers face unpredictable outcomes due to natural factors like weather, soil quality, and changing growing conditions. While The Foodscape Coach will provide expert guidance and personalized support, please understand that success varies and cannot be guaranteed.

By choosing to work with The Foodscape Coach, the Client acknowledges that:

    • Growing is a Learning Process: Success in food-growing requires patience, adaptability, and resilience, as conditions and outcomes can change from season to season.

    • No Yield Guarantee: There is no guarantee on the quantity of produce, as factors beyond our control may impact growth and yield.

    • Commitment to Ongoing Care: The Client agrees to follow the recommended maintenance practices and adjustments to achieve the best possible results.

  9. Intellectual Property and Content Ownership

All written materials, plans, or designs provided by the Consultant are intended for the Client’s personal use and may not be duplicated, shared, or used for commercial purposes without written consent.

  10. Non-Discrimination and Zero-Tolerance Policy

The Foodscape Coach is committed to creating an inclusive, respectful, and welcoming environment for all clients. I do not discriminate based on race, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, national origin, age, or disability. Every client is treated with equal respect and dignity.

In alignment with this commitment, any form of hate speech, bullying, harassment, or discriminatory behavior is strictly prohibited. Should such behavior occur, it will be grounds for immediate termination of services without a refund. By choosing to work with The Foodscape Coach, the Client agrees to uphold these values of respect and inclusivity throughout the service relationship.
